We headed out early this morning to beat the heat to with full packs at 14# and 18#. The Meridian State Park loop trail is approximately three miles of trails and paths that circle the lake. Mostly easy with about 20% falling into the moderate range.

There were a few elevation changes that slowed us down but the result was a scenic overlook.

The final result was an average of 2 mph (double our pace on the AT) and my new boots seem to be broken in. So now we finish packing and will begin the Camino a week from today; ready or not.
We have that same kind of eagle in Illinois plus some bald eagles. If you can I would strongly recommend wearing your new boots around the house for the next few days to make absolutely sure that they are broken in. My hopes and prayers are with you for a safe and enjoyable journey.

You are definitely ready! If you can walk 3 miles, you can walk 10 in a day. Which means that you can walk 500, eventually. Enjoy!
Buen Camino!
