Definitely the right move to relocate to Granada.

We left our mountain village before sunrise Saturday morning. Driving the narrow streets in the dark was challenging, but not nearly as bad as I had dreamt. We had a tour of the Alhambra scheduled for 9:00, and all was going well ahead of scheduled as we arrived at our hotel to drop off our bags. Parking was 450 meters away as the crow flies, but unfortunately we were not going via crow. After three attempts at finding the parking lot, we finally realized the alleys we were passing by actually counted in the four streets in which we were told to turn. So finally we were parked and in a cab to the Alhambra. ( I am now expecting a ticket to show up in the mail for at least one of the U turns I made in a major intersection).

The Alhambra is a Mooring fortress from when the Moors controlled much on Spain in the 13-15th centuries. The tour was a great lesson in Islamic art, architecture, and culture.

Perched on a hill, it was a great place to take in some views.

Within the walls there were some beautiful spots, but it was hard to grasp the grandeur of the complex as a whole.

We later found a better vantage point to take in the full scope

With this Granada “must see” requirement behind us, we could now wander Granada on our own time.

No electricity needed
Decorative walkways

Once we could check into our room we found it to de rather interesting.

A toilet for which you need an instruction manual.
A very hip shower

We brought the day to a close with wine at the rooftop bar.

Sunset over Granada

We are now into our last day in Granada before driving to Malaga. Flamenco tonight will close this chapter of our adventure.

  1. Looks like a wonderful trip so far. Just read an article talking about 6 of the top restaurants in Spain that made the world’s best list, more than any other country. France, Italy and Peru each had 4 for 2nd place, with Peru having the #1 ranked restaurant. Richie

      • Lunch by the sea sounds great. The fancy restaurants are the kind where you need to eat something before going or you will starve. Richie
