Feelings refreshed in many ways

Last night we had a farewell dinner with one of our original cohort group that all met early on in the Pyrenees. A truly remarkable lady who was a real inspiration.

We also by chance met up with several others from the cohart group and were able to take a selfie before the group spreads out along the Camino. One of the most enriching parts of the Camino are the people. Their stories are amazing. And I have been moved by how they will jump in and help if they see an opportunity. Like the nurse who unsolicited asked to look at my feet and gave advice and bandages to put them on the mend. Or one who knew we were having issues with a reservation and just started making calls on our behalf. It makes me want to find ways to be more helpful to others.

Today being Sunday we took advantage of the rainy morning by planning our upcoming days and making reservations out to the last 100 kilometer point of Sarria. If we depart Sarria on October 20 as planned, we could arrive in Santiago on the 24th.

Using this route outline and a few apps we are able to plan days that stay close to our 12 mile limit.

We had little excuse not to attend mass, as the view from our hotel room is the stained glass window in the choir loft.

St Nicolas church is beautiful inside and the mass was moving even though our Spanish is lacking.

We had great plans to visit museums and do more sightseeing, but we ended up doing one of our new favorite things, enjoying a snack at the plaza and watching the joy in the people.

Wine and lemonade mix; a new taste sensation

We are now rested and feeling better and anxious to start our nine day walk across the Meseta to the city of Leon.

  1. We have been enjoying your adventure with the posts on the blog. Pictures have been outstanding and beautiful. We get to follow along and we don’t have to do the walking! Miss you guys and can’t wait to hear all about it when you get home!

  2. Holy Crap ! A blog ? A blog !? I won’t believe even now as my thumb moves trancelike , aghast moved by the sheer determination of which you both own into choosing which letter is to be next. Such as that your heels then toes remain in track, weather less, yet callous more our wishes are that.
“Viva Viva Viva” to you both
