Roberto and Maria come alive

Our last excursion with Sherry turned out to be a lot of fun. We did a small group cruise up the Guadalquivir River and learned a lot more about the sights, buildings, and bridges we had been walking past for a week

Classic picture of the Torre del Oro, It used to defend Sevilla from enemies coming up the river.
I think this was my favorite part of the excursion.
Nice view of the Triana Bridge with the Seville Tower in the background.

One last day of shopping and a great dinner and it was time to take Sherry to the airport to catch her morning flight. We were able to get back in time for me to make my second day of Spanish lessons.

The school is only a ten minute walk from our apartment.

Speaking of the apartment, we are located on a side street that connects to one of the busiest shops streets in Sevilla, Sierpes.

Our one bedroom, one bath apartment is very comfortable.

Combo living and dining area that is just off the kitchen.

The best feature of the kitchen is the washer dryer combo unit that sits below the microwave.

First trip in a while where I will not be washing clothes by hand.
Hallway to the bedroom with a fold out single bed.
Plenty of closet space
Small but comfortable bedroom.

I would like to tell you the bedroom window overlooked the Cathedral, but we settled for the alley view instead.

Shortly after I returned from class on Tuesday, there was a period of misgiving. Had we made a mistake booking so much time in one place???

We determined the key was to keep exploring, only at a more reasonable pace. So Wednesday we headed out to find the Tower of Seville, stopping along the way for refreshments and tapas at one of the literally thousands of street restaurants.

We crossed the parasol bridge and found the tower on the north side of Triana.

The views from the 37th floor observation deck were stunning.

And so were the drinks!
Bull Fighting Ring
Sevilla is larger than I thought
The bridge the locals have nicknamed the “Viagra Bridge” can be seen in the distance.

We soon headed to the Triana market to buy some fresh foods we could cook at “home”.

We are learning that rowing is a big sport in Sevilla.

So now we are finding pleasure in some of the mundane tasks.

Enjoying the architecture
Finding the only church in Sevilla that has a mass in English
Finding a restaurant we could have a great meal and a beer or coffee for 13 euros
Pork over French fries with artichoke slices with honey.
Cooking at home
Our food from the Triana market
Exploring the Macarena neighborhood
Sevilla is THE place to have a bachelorette party so you see at least three or four a week roaming around.
A wedding just ending at the basilica de la Macarena
And another just beginning
The Arco de la Macarena sits next to the Basilica.
Picking up cherries, grapes, and oranges on our way home.

Later today we are going to the language school for a cookie making session all in Spanish. And since my first name and Becky’s middle name are more common in Spain, we have decided to henceforth be known as Roberto and Maria.
