Our new routine is anything but routine

We continue to fill our days without having much of a plan. A lot of our time revolves around food. We normally eat breakfast in, as I leave early for language class, and then we head out together late morning. There are not many days that we don’t find ourselves in a tapas bar.

Tinto Verano is one of our go to refreshments and here we added a snack of Aceitunas.
Another street bar in Triana and not sure exactly what this was. Seemed like a cross between a nut and a giant kernel of corn.
Once a week we try to find an upscale restaurant. We found a great seafood restaurant close to the apartment.
The mussels were great and the dessert even better. The chef came out to let us know the clear roll on top was made from potato skins and completely edible.
The Triana Market is a great place to get a good meal. Oysters from Portugal, France, and Ireland.

And when we really want to splurge, nothing better than espresso with churros and chocolate.

We walk A LOT. ( one way we can rationalize the churros). And on our walk to the Setas last Saturday, we came across folks with strong opinions.

City workers protesting layoffs announced by the city council.
American expats protesting against fascism, complete with entertainment.

Interesting times, both at home and abroad.

The best part of waking around is just taking in the beauty of the city:

One of the many functional bell towers.
Previously the Argentnian embassy
Never tire of the Setas
Even the shopping streets are cool.
There’s that bridge again

Getting ready for competition this weekend.

We have discovered we have access to the roof of our building. Unfortunately the only feature up there is a clothesline. But as the weather starts warming up, I am trying to find a way we could have Happy Hour up there on occasion

Practical but not very aesthetic.

And there is every day life events like getting a haircut. Tough choice:

The Baber of Seville or
The Bald Monkey kind of seemed appropriate
But I chose La Navaja. Good haircut at half the price I pay in the US.

We have not yet run out of cultural things to experience. This week we visited Torre Schindler and naval museum.

13 story tower in the river.
Great views
Skateboarding park by the bus station
Old ceramic factory turned into government offices.
Elevator up, and we opted to walk the 13 floors down. We have become step obsessed!

The highlight of the week was the cooking class. We made our own three course lunch:

Salmorejo soup
Espinacas Garbanzos (spinach and chickpeas)
Paella Valenciana
Fueled by Sangria

But as usual, the people you are with is what makes it special. Including the young couple recently graduated from Washington University, our new friend from Holland, the ladies from California, and the Japanese woman now living in Seville. What a great group of people to hang out with for a few hours.

  1. It’s easier to reply to email instead of logging in to WordPress. Haven’t seen any yoga pictures yet? This last sprain that Vanessa got was from wearing some new crocs while doing laundry. She said they were very soft. That girl is always doing something to herself! Love the pictures and enjoy hearing about everything you’re doing.
